Racing even has its own Chaplain, the Reverend Graham Locking. who is funded by Racing Welfare and employed by score, a registered charity whose aim is to develop and support chaplaincy in sport. Graham seeks to offer support to all involved in racing, especially in times of trouble. He is concerned with helping people, and not 'preaching' at them. Graham is down to earth, approachable and loves racing.
He seeks to encourage people to make good decisions and set realistic goals. He also visits the British Racing School, where youngsters joining the industry begin their training.
Graham works in partnership with the welfare officers employed by Racing Welfare.
Having someone to listen to in times of trouble is vital. You can talk to Graham about anything from relationships or marital issues to alcohol and drug issues as well as spiritual matters.
How to contact Reverend Graham Locking:
Graham is found on the heath every morning at 7:30am, chatting to trainers and staff. He also visits various yards, studs and racecourses around the country. Graham is based at the Racing Welfare offices in Newmarket, so please feel free to drop in or call.
