Lambourn
Donations
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Lambourn Valley Dental Practise for their kind donation of £150 and also Lambourn Carnival Committee who donated £200 out of the monies raised from all the Carnival events. Racing Welfare relies solely on fundraising and donations, so these monies are greatly appreciated.
We would also like to thank Brian and Pam Pedder for their kind donation of second hand racing books that have proved to be very popular in the office with several people making very generous contributions for the books.
We had ‘open house’ for Christmas in the Square (Dec 7 th). A big thank you to Doreen Rackham for supplying the mulled wine and the very much appreciated home made mince pies. We held a raffle and raised £57 ~ congratulations to Mrs Harris who won the hamper ~ thank you to all of you that popped in and supported us.
Retired Staff Outings
We are starting to plan the outings for this summer, and will be writing to all our regular outing-goers in the near future. We will be enclosing a survey with a few ideas on alternative venues to be added to the usual Racing trips and inviting some of you to join us for a ‘brainstorming’ session over several cups of tea (or something stronger!) to come up with a short list.
On The Mend
Corky Brown (N Henderson’s) is recovering well following a replacement knee operation, and I’m sure he is looking forward to seeing his horses running at Cheltenham.
Rhonda Griffiths ~ update.
There have been some technical issues coupled with illness and Christmas that have led to further delays in Kriotherapy treatment for Rhonda but I hope that in the next issue of In the Frame we will be able to give a full report on Rhonda’s progress.
A P McCoy
I’m sure all our readers will join all at Racing Welfare in wishing AP a speedy recovery. I’m sure you will have seen the updates in the Racing Post and it looks like the Kriotherapy chamber is being put to very good use. AP is always a supporter of Racing Welfare so we look forward to seeing him back on board for Cheltenham ~ if not before!!
User Evaluation Questionnaires
Following the trial in Newmarket we are now rolling this out throughout all our areas. It is just a straight forward set of questions about the quality of the service that you receive which will help us to assess any areas for development and improvement.

West Country News
Update
Rowan and I are keen to be more proactive in our work within the West Country and to that end we plan to spend a few days out and about introducing ourselves to more trainers and bases in the next couple of months. We are working to develop the Sport and Leisure Scheme and already liaising with several Centres to get them on board that will make facilities more accessible to those based in more rural areas.
The spot light is very much on Paul Nicholls yard at present with two of his stars making regular headlines in the press ~ we would like to wish ALL our stables and staff the best of luck for the up coming Cheltenham Festival and the Aintree meeting.
Robert Alner
We continue to monitor Mr Alner’s progress and note from his ‘blog’ that a move to Salisbury hospital is hopefully on the cards. We hope that the signal will be better and that he will be able to enjoy watching racing from his laptop. Congratulations to all connections of Miko de Beauchene on winning the Welsh Grand National ~ a great tonic for all concerned.
