Apprenticed to the late Tommy Shedden at 15, Peter Salmon had to wait two years before riding his first winner in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster. He stayed at Snedden’s as stable jockey for a number of years prior to moving to Jack Hanson. Riding for many of the Northern trainers Peter won the Davidson Gold Cup for Peter Easterby on The Alickadoo and the conditional title.
Spells with other Yorkshire trainers led to a sojourn over seas in Japan, South Africa and Italy where he broke in the famous eight time Group One winner Falbrav.
Today Peter runs a pre training yard in Wetherby and has recently taken out a full trainers licence. We wish him all the best for the future.
